What a weekend it was! Hoping you all had a great weekend. Mine was good & completely filled with exhaustion! I ran Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Typically I run 3 days in a row with a day off, but since I had an extra day in the “weekend”, I decided to push it. Well, push it was exactly what happened! I’m spent! I was spent before all of the running even began. I need to rest a little to gear up for my 20 miler this week! Benji keeps telling me not to push myself, but I LOVE running & it’s hard not to run. Thank goodness my body is putting up with my chaos!
Here are some of my stats:
I must admit that on Sunday, I set out to run 13 miles, but it didn’t really work for me. I pushed it to 7 outbound miles because I wanted to go to Starbuck’s for a cup of ice water, which I did. However, on the way back, I was simply exhausted & decided to be “smart” and walk a bit. I did just that & then called home when I was only 1 mile away from home for a ride back home. I ran 10.5 miles, but just didn’t have it in me to complete the run! The oddest thing happened: when I was running I got the chills. Now, let me tell you that it wasn’t cold! It was absolutely beautiful outside, about 74 & not very sunny. Perfect running weather. I think it was simply part of my exhaustion, so I took a nap during the Smurf movie with the boys later in the day & felt better!
I did get new orthotics made (think I told you). You know, I have bunion “issues”. I’ve been wearing them in my shoes, but haven’t taken them for a run yet, as suggested by my dr. I will try them in a week or so. Hoping it’s an easy transition from my old orthotics to the new ones, as I don’t have much patience to wear them in right now. It’s marathon training time after all!!!!!!!!
This weekend I made the yummiest zuchinni soup with lots of herbs. It was perfectly delicious & refreshing. I’ll be sure to give you the recipe. I topped it with nutritional yeast & a little hot sauce. You’re gonna have to try it!

I know you guys like giveaways so much, so I want to do a couple of yummy treats for you to check out this week!
I’ve been “teasing” you with this week’s giveaways & now’s your chance to win!
Healthy! Our chickpeas are naturally packed with intense nutrition – for a healthy heart, a healthy waistline, and for sustained energy.
Tasty! They’re also intensely delicious. Dry roasted sloooowly, and then tossed with tasty spices. Yum!
Gluten-free, nut-free, cholesterol-free, low fat, low in carbohydrates, nothing over-engineered, nothing artificial.
Check out their ingredient list below.
INGREDIENTS: Roasted chickpeas, coarse salt, expeller-pressed canola and/or sunflower oil (non-GMO), Vitamin E.
4 ingredients, that’s it! I love when you know what the ingredients are in a product & the fewer the better. Can’t beat that! They’re so amazing. The only issue is that the bag says there are 2 servings in each bag & I love them so much, I ate them in 1 sitting. No 2 servings for me with my massive appetite of late! I’ve roasted my own chickpeas, but they’re not as crunchy as these! They’re really a delicious healthy treat!
I have to tell you that I’ve also been enjoying these YUMMY candies of late. The kind folks at the Lovely Candy Company sent me treats to enjoy! I must tell you that again, I love the ingredient list: No soy, corn, wheat, artificial anything! They’re vegan & kosher. Two of my favorites things! They’re a new company & only have the taffy right now, but there’s more to come! I’m hoping that they’ll come out with licorice, as that’s Jackie (one of the owner’s of the co.) favorite. It’s mine too!!! It’s very difficult to find candy that’s not filled with artificial ingredients that you not only don’t know what they are; but, can’t even pronounce! The rest of this week, I plan on getting all my mile in & also completing a 20 miler while preparing for Rosh Hashanah!
What’s on your agenda for the week?
Do you ever get cold while running when it’s warm outside? It’s quite puzzling to me.
